Character Information

Character Name: Loki Laufeyson
Character Series: What series your character is from.
Character Age: He looks to be in his 30s, he is actually about 1200+ years old.
Character Gender: Male
Canon Point: Post-Avengers
Background Link: Loki's Wiki | Thor Film Wiki | Avengers Film Wiki

Personality:
How He Presents Himself:
"I was a king, the rightful king of Asgard! Betrayed!"

In a land where brute force and a willingness to run into battle are valued, Loki is seen as weak. While he is a master sorcerer and has the cunning to match he is still viewed as a coward and a sneak amongst his peers. Asgard is a society that is ruled upon these sorts of principles, the belief of might is right is prevalent. Loki is viewed as a coward as he finds more value in planning and magic than force, he often clashes with Thor and co. because of this. It's easy to see this in the way Sif is far more accepted, as she is a warrior-- though she did have to prove herself-- than Loki who is a sorcerer. Even when he lends his hand to battle it's often discredited because Magic is not viewed as anything other than cowardice and he grows resentful because of it.

Loki looks far different than the ideal Aesir, while he is tall, wiry, pale and dark-- the idealized look of the Aesir is far closer to Thor's own image. Bright, golden, powerful and muscular. Many expect, and want, Loki to be more like Thor; as the older brother is charismatic, boisterous, fearless, proud and open. Loki however prefers his silence, the shadows, magic and his privacy; and it is hard for many not to compare the two. Hard for Loki not to compare the two either.

"You are, all of you are beneath me! I am a god, you dull creature, and I shall not be bullied... "

Despite his insecurities and conflict Loki projects a sense of arrogance almost unmatched. He call humanity ants and believes that they crave subjugation, that it is his right to rule simply because he is 'a god'. He demeans the skills of others with words or actions. Pushes and uses these words to manipulate, to bend them to his will and finds a swell of satisfaction when things work out as he sees fit. He tries to disconnect himself from others and project a sense of apathy with it, as if he is above sentiment and sympathy all the while the little cracks in his facade show he is not.

He says poisonous things to get a reaction, pushes and pushes in hopes of raising the ire of others, to force them to lose their composure. Loki seems to delight in the control it give him, even amongst all the chaos he creates he likes to have a firm grasp on the outcome. His plans are generally thought out five or six steps ahead of average; planning so thoroughly that most would struggle to follow his leaps in logic. He knows people well enough that most times he can predict just what to say to rile them or to pacify them. He's that little voice in your ear whispering what you should do and lets you believe it was all your idea in the first place.

His True Motivations:
“The feelings that hurt most, the emotions that sting most, are those that are absurd; the longing for impossible things, precisely because they are impossible; nostalgia for what never was; the desire for what could have been; regret over not being someone else; dissatisfaction with the world’s existence. All these half-tones of the soul’s consciousness create in us a painful landscape, an eternal sunset of what we are.”
— Fernando Pessoa

There is a phenomenon in the Thor which I think speaks clearly of how he views his relations to other characters, particularly those who were supposed to be his friends or family; I mean of course the fact people frequently just tell him to shut up. I think this reaction is normal on their part-- as Loki is known for trickery or lying-- but to him it is just them dismissing his existence entirely. I think it also explains a lot of how he looks at himself on the inside. While he projects a sense of bravado and aloofness I think Loki is probably the most insecure character in Avengers.

Imagine this happens enough through the thousand or so years Loki has been alive-- as he spends most of his time with Thor, Sif or the Warriors Three. And while the lot of them tolerate Loki for Thor's sake, they are not as close to him as his brother (as is probably his fault) and instead favor to tolerate him, at least until everything goes to hell. In Loki's case his words are his biggest source of power; while he is not an incapable fighter, more often than not Loki uses his wit and cunning to win out. He uses these words to reason people into doing things they normally wouldn't, manipulates them into decisions they believe are their own with seeds of deceit carefully planted. The constant silencing of him through the film (when he attempts to speak to Heimdall, stall Thor with the Frost Giants or even speak to Odin during his fight with Thor) is a dismissal of his ability. He feels undermined because of this, compared to the others who are all known for being warriors, Loki values his words highly and being dismissed and ignored feels to him like them undermining him.

This is finalized at the end of Avengers when he is not just cuffed but gagged; his words are his power and they muzzle him. His words are dangerous and it is only after he uses them to manipulate the heroes that they finally realize this.

That isn't to say he's entirely a nice guy and a victim of circumstance; Loki is obviously off-kilter, from the negative way he twists things said to him to the chaos and mayhem he'll cause for attention. I believe Loki is a case of "any attention is good attention" and if he can't get the same positive attention as Thor-- who is the Crowned Prince, Golden Son, etc-- then he will be exactly what he feels people expect of him. The opposite. He'll cause chaos and cruelty, play tricks and pranks because he feels that behaving this way will equalize him to Thor in the sense he will be as bad as Thor is good.

"Because I am the monster who parents tell their children about at night."

Loki has a intense sense of self-loathing and much of it comes to the forefront in this line. He was told most of his life of the Jotun and how they are monsters, listens to his brother tell stories of ridding them all and watches his father fall into silence. He believes that they're monsters, that they would bring the fall of Asgard and then finds out that he is one. That those creatures most fear and despise are his kin, that he is not the true son of Odin and Frigga. It's in this moment that every slight he's felt (real or imagined) becomes part of this-- part of the fact that he is not a true Aesir.

He kills his real father and attempts to destroy all of Jotunheim in order to 'cleanse' himself of being a monster. If no other Jotuns remain than he feels he can be free of his true nature. On that same account he takes it so deeply as part of what he is. These stories about monsters and viciousness, that all Jotun are like this, and decides that he too will be like this. A vicious monster to be feared, because it's who he is. As if his birth was an explanation for his actions. Not to mention discovering that Laufey had abandoned him for being a 'bastard child' and had left him to die in a temple. He takes this as just another instance of being unwanted, unworthy, belonging in either Asgard or Jotunheim.

"And if I do, then what? I love Thor more dearly than any of you, but you know what he is. He's arrogant, he's reckless, he's dangerous! You saw how he was today. Is that what Asgard needs from its King?"

&

"Is it madness? Is it? IS IT? I don't know what happened on Earth to make you so soft! Don't tell me it was that woman?... Oh, it was. Well, when we're done here, maybe I'll pay her a visit myself!"

Much of Loki's inner motivation is jealousy; jealous of his brother, of the way e relates to others, the way he is loved, the way he feels Odin prefers him and probably a dozen of other things.

It's apparent he's usually at his brother's side, attempting to talk sense into him, to reason with him; because he knows that Thor is brash, a brilliant warrior but not a man prepared to be king. It's obvious by the way Thor is more than willing to disobey Odin and go to Jotunheim, prepared to fight without the consideration of what it might do to their political relations, that Odin is tired or even that the lot of them can get killed. Thor thinks himself the best warrior, unable to fall as do many others that stand at his side. Loki, for all his love of Thor (and I do believe he loves him, which is why he also hates him so deeply), is not blind to his faults. Perhaps this is because he is so unlike Thor, a thinker first as opposed to a warrior, and while others all aspire to be like his brother Loki knows him best and has seen fool hearty mistakes in their youth.

I think he gets so enraged that Thor has changed on earth because for so long he has been trying to change Thor, to talk some sense into him. The thought that some mere mortal that Thor has known for three days can do what Loki couldn't in all the years they spent together on Asgard eats at him. Another thing that makes him feel disconnected from his brother, dismissed, forgotten. He already feels as if none will listen, but knows the Aesir are stubborn, but to have him changed so quickly and easily by what Loki considers a inferior being is painful.

It's in this moment he knows Thor has changed; but Loki has too. He went from brilliant plans to all out murder, ready to rid the realms of Jotunheim as his brother would have before. He has always wanted them to be equal, but while he has stooped to this Thor has risen up, changed himself, become a better person and it makes Loki crazy. For they will never be equal no matter what he does, in the end deciding that if he cannot be like Thor then he will be the opposite. The villain.

Headcanon territory:

"You lack conviction."

I believe in this instance that Coulson is right. Loki lacks conviction because there is no real reason he would want Earth. It's not a strategic advantage as it contains nothing (we've seen) that would offer him a way to take over Asgard or any of the other nine realms. Asgard which has always been Loki's true goal. In Thor we see how hard he pushes to try and prove himself once Frigga allows him to wear the crown and take over as king. How much he wants to be the hero, worshiped and respected as Thor would have been. Earth will offer him none of this, while he may have pushed the humans down to rise above it-- they mean nothing to him, they're ants, and not his true goal. The respect of ants means nothing, the respect of Aesir means all.

Stark even wonders about it at one point, why would Loki want to rule Earth? Of course he doesn't have time to think it through but it's a puzzling question to those who do not even know his true motivations.

He doesn't want Earth, he wants a ride home.

A thing to keep in mind is Loki's plans usually have plans those plans have plans and schemes and so on and so forth. Coming in and blowing up a bunch of stuff after making the good guys bicker a little is quite flat for a person of Loki's skill sets.

He steals the tesseract in such a visible way-- which he's been keeping tabs on, as seen in the post-Thor credits scene-- which causes Fury to gather the Avengers and sets things into motion. If he intends for the Avengers to get involved at this point is negligent because he knows the power of the tesseract will draw the attention of Odin and therefor Thor.

It's then he allows himself to be captured-- even Stark and Rogers comment on how odd it is because he could have easily fled but choose not to. Of course then Thor shows up and Loki is sure he has the All-Fathers attention and his trick is already working against those involved. He slips information here or there and in the end he lands defeated-- a good smashing from the Hulk, sure, but he doesn't bother to draw himself away afterward.

He lets the heroes believe they've won, which is the easiest way for him to win. No one second guesses it because they all believe Loki to be weaker than Thor, crazed and a coward. In truth he just needed a way home and a way away from Thanos. They threaten him with pain, with finding him no matter where he may run and obviously have some sort of connection to him. In battling and losing as he did that puts him back in Asgard-- but not just that but under the protection of Thor and the others, not to mention in the position to usurp all that especially if he gets his hands on some of the things hidden in Odin's vault.

Why else would Selvig, while completely at a loss for his sense of self, still install a fail-safe into the portal? Why would Loki lie about possessing the cosmic cube to The Other? Loki isn't a team player and deigns no person worthy of ruling over him, that much is obvious, so why would he subject himself to Thanos' rule?

He wouldn't.

Abilities:
Superhuman Strength: Loki possesses a formidable strength as a result of his jotun lineage, that is comparable to his Asgardian contemporaries. He kicked a man several yards into a wall, and has thrown another across a room and through a window. He was able to overpower Captain America with ease. His strength also extends his ability to leap distances far in excess of human capability.

Superhuman Durability: As a Jotun, Loki has a resilient body with a tolerance for trauma that's similar to the Asgardians. Of particular note is his pronounced tolerance for cold. Loki has also shown extreme endurance against bullets which just bounce off him. Loki has also taken a blow from Captain America's shield which also failed to injure him. He has also withstood a full blast from a weapon based on the Destroyer. Loki has also withstood a blast from Iron Man's repulsors without being burnt or horribly scarred as well as a fierce beating from the Hulk which Loki walked away from with minor damage (of course being floored and out of action for a short while).

Superhuman Longevity: Loki has the capacity to live for hundreds, perhaps thousands, of years. Loki was a baby at the end of the last great war between the Asgardians and the Jotuns over a thousand years ago.

Superhuman Speed/Agility: Loki is fast enough to catch Hawkeye's arrows in mid-flight, inches away from his neck. He also used his speed in his fight against Captain America, during which he easily gained the upper hand, at one point even smashing Cap's shield into the ground. Indeed, had Loki not intended to humiliate the supersoldier, he could easily have killed him.

Sorcery: Loki is a master of magic. He can create illusions, including copies of himself, can teleport others (and possibly himself) to wherever he wants, and can influence people with his mind and was able to exert a more potent hypnotic control when using his sceptre directly on people who were trying to stop him. He can also conceal himself and others from sight. Loki can summon objects out of thin air. When he summons the Casket of Ancient Winters and used it against Heimdall freezing him solid. He can also alter his appearance and attire whenever he wills it..

Cold Manipulation: As a Frost Giant, Loki can generate cold, like when he froze the lightning in the Bifrost Bridge to jam its functions.

Intelligence: Loki has shown that being an "god" of a different world, he has shown to be able to understand, learn and eventually utilize Earth and other alien technology to an excellent degree, such as using the eye device on the scientist, learning to use the control console that controls the cage and flying an Chitauri airship.

Expert Combatant: Loki has extensive combat training that allowed him to fight off and kill several Jotuns in Jotunheim, defeat several S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives, and hold his own against Thor and Captain America for a time.

Prose:
Thrust into a position to prove himself the first thing that crosses his mind is killing the lot of them to show them just what he could do-- and then extricating himself from the place entirely. Unfortunately he finds himself not allowed access to his magic and even more curious he knows not where he is nor can he feel the presence of familiarity from a single person. Humans, yes, but not the sort he knows-- the detachment is different, it makes him curious. He's not so brash as to lash out without any forward knowledge; and as much as he hates allowing creatures to feel like they're above him-- especially the damned humans-- he knows when playing a game may be to his advantage.

He lies, so brilliantly and beautifully about his own abilities. Shows little bits of what he can do-- throwing knives are an weapon he is frighteningly adept with, he can wield a blade and a bow-- but he strays away from feats of strength. As a half-giant even without magic he is not weak, not unable, but he will let them doubt. Will let them doubt and slit their throats because of it-- this much he tells himself as he refrains from the flash of real power. He might not have been his brother but he was still of Asgard, still a warrior, and while he may rely upon cunning over brute strength when it came to his own people and the 'heroes' of Earth; when compared to the the average mortals he was quite a force to be reckoned with.

He's all long limbs, thin figure, dark features and predatory eyes. Not unappealing, but with that sense of chaos that sparkles below-- it's this sort of look that allows him more of the score than one might expect. The arrogance and power exuded from his very posture-- slim but dangerous. Smaller have won before. Loki cares not for his score-- deigns comparing him to others a fruitless endeavor because his abilities have always relied on things unseen, words and shadows.

He would not die this day, not at the hands of mortals.

What is your character scored: 10 → Loki is exceptionally skilled and powerful, but he's also at the foremost a thinker. He wouldn't display all the skills he has, instead deciding to keep those to himself so they're not planned for or expected on the field. He has hunted and battled since his youth and is more than adept at survival, things he might have hinted at but never fully told.

Character Info;
Character Name: Charles Francis Xavier
Canon: X-Men: First Class
Canon Link: Mutants!!
Canon Point: Just as the ships turn their attention to the X-Men.
Character Age: 30
Personality: Charles is above all else an optimist, he believes in the best of man and mutants alike. That, despite the experiences life has brought about, you can master your own destiny and become the man you desire (with help from those around you). He believes that a kind voice and a caring hand can alter the world if given time. He also believes that if you do good it will be done unto you and most of all that some day mankind and mutantkind can coexist peacefully. Charles wants to work to build a future where mutants are accepted as a natural step in evolution rather than a threat, where humans and mutants could-- with their vast abilities-- work together to make a better future for all. Charles believes that together society could evolve exponentially with these new abilities and peace can be reached. This is visible in the fact that, with the exception of dire circumstances or to protect himself, Charles finds that violence is never the answer and he abhors killing. His optimistic nature makes it evident that he believes in rehabilitation as opposed to simple punishment; he attempts to stop Erik from killing Shaw because those kind of actions do damage to not only the killed but the killer. Even if the man could not be rehabilitated, Charles finds they have no right to pass judgement themselves.

That is not to say Charles is without his faults; he’s arrogant and at times naive. It would be amiss to say he was innocent, as any man who can see into the dark corners of other men’s minds is anything but. These traits are exemplified in several of his encounters with Erik, where it’s clear he can see Erik’s suffering in his mind and can sympathies with his pain, it’s obvious (from some of his actions and words, ala the uttering of “they were just following orders” in Cuba) that he doesn’t entirely grasp what he’s been allowed to see. Raised a (comparatively) sheltered life he can empathize with the pain however he cannot always understand the conflicting notions and lasting scars that come with it.

His insufferable belief in his ideals and the optimistic-like nature it gives him often leaves him vulnerable because of his expectation that given the chance most men, if not all men, can be good or will do the right things. Set in his ideals he often butts heads with people close to him (namely Erik or Raven), situations in which he rarely sees fit to concede any ground. Charles frequently believes that his assumptions and theories are correct because of his mutation; with the ability to see into the minds of many he feels the right to an authoritative stance on human nature and behavior. He assumes most people can learn to fall in line with his ideals and if he begins the school for mutants that he can mold their future into the peaceful one he desires.

In addition to this Charles is very driven; he has several degrees (most recently his doctorate from Oxford) and when given the opportunity to work with the CIA he jumps right in even though he had just graduated the day before. Charles is obviously highly intelligent, as evidenced by his degree, manner of speech and mutation. Charles uses this knowledge to his advantage when helping both the CIA and his students. It’s apparent in the way he assists in finding new ways and uses for their abilities that can only be built from a base understanding of how they work and what is or isn’t theoretically possible.

Charles’ ability to see the thoughts of others often provides him a one-up on most; knowing what they want or need from him even before they ask. This also leads him to be a bit selfish; he likes to be in control of things, lead the way and will use his ability to see to that. While he doesn't take over anyone physically with his telepathy or alter their thoughts and ideas, he does use the knowledge he gains from their minds in order to nudge them in what he thinks is the 'right' direction. He has trouble abiding by the rules of someone else if he deems that they are unfair or incorrect and won’t hesitate to voice his opinion even when things are better left unsaid.

For as educated and gifted as he is, Charles’ world was relatively small before he encountered Moira MacTaggart and subsequently many of his future students. He’s known loneliness and pain, but nothing quite as considerable as many of the mutants he comes across. His inherent good nature also makes him prey to those who would use it against him. It also leads to him saying things he shouldn't, because he doesn't consider how the words will impact people based on their experiences. It provides him a great deal of trouble with Raven, as he had promised to stay out of her head. Because of this Charles often doesn't catch the implications of his actions or words when it comes to her. The kitchen scene for example; Raven enters, in her true blue form with no clothing on and Charles is startled. Since he doesn't see her in the same way, thinking of her more as a sister than a potential partner he's unnerved by her being in the nude, but she believes it's because he's seeing her in her natural blue form and no longer cares for her because of it. There is no distinction of difference to her, as she first met him nude, but to him she is now a woman and the nudity is inappropriate especially considering their familial bond. She gets upset and leaves, and he doesn't even realize the impact of the conversation till far later when Raven decides to leave him in favor of going with Erik.

Despite the fact that Charles wants people to perceive him as much older than he is he still has youthful digressions; the most prominent being that he quite enjoys his drinking and chasing skirts. Charles, especially in his days at Oxford, was known to go out to the local pub, get mildly smashed and then attempt to pick up coeds with amusing lines about genetic mutations and the evolution of man. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. Truth be told he still succumbed to the follies of youth and had many things to learn though he did best to hide that fact.

Powers & Abilities: Charles (during this time line) is the most powerful telepath to be discovered. He is able to perceive the thoughts of others and project his own thoughts for quite some distance.

He can warp a person’s perceptions; allowing himself (or others) to look different or seem invisible, he can create illusions, erase memories, induce pain and cause temporary paralysis. If the range is within a mile or so he can manipulate multiple minds at once, however if he is attempting to take full control he can only do so with one individual. He can alter or impede the body’s natural senses; causing the subject to lose control of their sight, hearing, smell, taste, powers (if mutant) and more. With this he can also cause unconsciousness or even death.

He can, by picking up the brainwaves of other beings, identify who they are and in some cases where they’re located.

Weaknesses: Charles, for all his intelligence, is not much of a fighter. Having a short stature of five-foot-seven and a thin build he’s built more for leading and organizing than he is for actual combat.

His single minded nature is a large flaw; so focused on his goals and arrogant (if not somewhat correct) belief that he could help change the course of man and mutantkind, his personal relationships often suffer. He tends to take may of his close relationships for granted, as he did with Raven, and only realizes after something has gone awry that he’s done wrong.

Nerf: Obviously this falls within the overpowered category and thus must be brought down into a more reasonable level. In order to make him more applicable to the game I was thinking perhaps Charles would only be able to use his ability to control and manipulate as far as the room he's in and perhaps sense people a room or two over at most, which is far more reasonable.

Also it doesn't work on zombies.

Items on their Person:
One flight suit,
One set of heavy boots
One set of gloves,

Samples; (All samples must be set in the game's universe)
First Person Sample: I can't control them, they haven't got minds to control. [ Charles hisses, his accent thick in a bout of emotion, for perhaps the fourth time. His shoulder is aching, pressed firmly against the stairwell door, struggling to keep the grasping hands and biting mouths as far from his person as possible. Being this close he can smell them, the dead, rotting flesh so easily sliding off of the bone on the older ones. The newer ones nearly passing as human if it weren't for the blood splattered fingers and lack of thought. They functioned, he reasoned, on a base level-- the desire for food driving the reanimated corpses into action.

Charles couldn't remember the last time he had seen another person alive, the last time he hadn't had to smell that wafting stench of blood. This wasn't the kind of thing he was made for, dead or not the bodies still existed and killing them required a skill he wasn't adept at. A visceral reaction to life was all they provided, unfortunately that reaction was death. ]

Bloody hell! [ Charles yelped feeling dirty fingers curl in the shoulder of his cardigan, digging for flesh, for meat and bone and everything that Charles had left. He jerked back, just enough, and barely in time; leaving the clawing hand with nothing it desired and only a chunk of the fabric covering his shoulder to speak for. His head snaps to the side and he casts another glance toward the stairs. ] Hurry up and find something to barricade this blasted door and come back down here! [ Perhaps shouting wouldn't help anyone of them focus, but considering the fact his weight was only going to hold back so many of them for so long-- and their persistence never wore out with the smell of flesh so close-- he felt the matter was dire. ] There's nothing in there-- it's-- so vacant. [ His breath hitches nervously, a glance to the side, hoping someone will arrive with something to prop the door closed soon. ] What if-- [ He's terrified to ask, but his mind can't stop circling the idea of the others. The children. What about them? ] We need to find them as soon as possible.

Third Person Sample: "Right."  His fingers curl around the bar, leaving him white knuckled and nearly breathless. The rapid kick of his heart-- not just panic but exhaustion-- is making everything tinge with that haze of unreality. He closes his eyes, swallowing hard but his throat is dry and his mouth doesn't seem to be producing the proper amount of saliva anymore. Still, out of more habit than anything, he licks his lips and gives Erik an affirmative nod.

Dead--undead-- or not he's still so uncomfortable with the thought of clobbering it... back to dead.

Turning he heads toward the closest room first; the hallway bathroom, inside there's a few soaps, candles, a uncomfortably dry sponge but nothing of note. Down the hall the smaller of the two bedrooms look like it used to be for a child of some sort and Charles isn't entirely sure how long he can stand to be in there-- it's collected, proper, bed still mussed from the last time someone slept in it. An ache thuds in his chest, and while he knows they don't have time to mourn people they didn't even know, it's still upsetting. The back of his hand traces against his mouth as he eases back out into the hallway. Pressed into one of the walls he sucks in a deep breath, closes his eyes and reminds himself that there's nothing they could do about it.

He doesn't even finish collecting himself before he's moved on to the next room. The master bedroom is much like the child's-- however the bed is made and there's a pair of slippers tucked near the bathroom door. Charles feels his heart nearly leap out of his chest at a flash of movement, but it's just the bathroom curtain slipping into a stagnant pool of water. Turning back toward the hall he almost calls out before he thinks better of making that much noise and instead brushes his fingers against his temple,

Clear.

He was grateful to be allowed to shower first; the right easily belonged to Erik-- the man had done far more work than he had between the two of them, his own ability rendered rather useless in the wasteland of moving dead bodies. He pops the cupboard under the sink open, grabbing a cleaning glove so he can unplug the tub, noting the slight drip of the faucet that had lead to the standing water. It takes him nearly an hour to scrub the tub clean enough that he doesn't feel threatened by getting into it. Once he ripped the glove off, letting the tub drain once more he tossed it into the sink as he paused for the first time in forever to look at himself.

The lines of his face, deeper with exhaustion and lack of food, bright blues accented by deep red rings fading into his cheek bones. He still looked alive-- still flushed with some kind of color-- but not as much as he had been. He looked more tired than he could ever remember being, his hair was dusty and slightly matted and he had to wonder at what point it had become so easy to ignore. He picked at his clothes for a second before he tore his gaze away-- he didn't care to look at himself, not like that, not anymore. He yanked at the handle to get the water flowing again-- it sputtered a bit, but it did flow to life-- and he didn't even wait for it to warm up. He stripped his clothes with surprising quickness, only fumbling on the occasional button. He pulled them in with him, though, dropping them on the floor to clean after he finally rinsed his body.

He scrubbed, every little bit of skin even where it hurt, he had never felt the desire to be clean so painfully. The water running with the grime and blood stuck to bits of his skin. Breathing a heavy sigh he just ducked under the water-- making an effort to rake his fingers through his hair and clean it. Grabbing soap he scrubbed hard, waking over skin till some of it turned a sore pink-- because he just needed to be clean again, to feel more human because of it.

Once he was clean, and had scrubbed his clothes to his best of his ability. Trying to get the mess stuck to them off with simple hand soap. Eventually he gave in, too tired to fight with the fabric anymore, and threw the clothing back on. It was wet but he didn't care to risk being caught in a state of undress.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Charles Francis Xavier
Canon: X-Men: First Class
Original or Alternate Universe: Original
Canon Point: Post Cuba
Number: Any number is fine.

Setting: The sixties, with strippers, mutants, Nazis and the CIA. Two dudes fight for the future of mutant kind, and then two dudes do it again.

History:
Charles’ history is not expanded on in X-Men: First Class, because of this I have filled in small gaps with comic canon. I will try to keep these things to a minimum and only use them as a basis for elaboration on his motives throughout the film when needed.

According to comic canon Charles' father Brian Xavier passed away due to an accident when he was young, and his mother Sharon Xavier developed a drinking problem and became cold and distant to Charles. It’s pointedly stated that she was a woman concerned with her status and had never set foot in their kitchen, nor had she taken it upon herself to go out of her way for her son. Charles was lacking in any real close relationships because of this, knowing only his mother and the servants who lived in the Xavier home till Raven appears in his kitchen when he's twelve. She's the first mutant he's ever encountered and he is awed by her, reacting positively to her vivid blue skin mutation rather than being frightened by it. While she is scaled, and obviously had been feared or shunned before, he is unfettered by her appearance and more so delighted by the fact that he’s found another mutant like himself. He offers her a place in his house and any food she should want, knowing that the Xavier’s had more than enough for another child, and they begin what becomes a mutually dependent relationship and his only bond for the next eighteen years.

It becomes apparent that while he is intelligent Charles is not exactly the most socially adept; making his way through higher learning on his way to obtaining a doctorate Raven voices her displeasure at her ‘true’ looks and Charles simply comments (when pressured about her real appearance rather than the blond cover she uses) that he cannot look at her like that as she is his oldest friend. To which she reminds him that she is his only friend. Charles laughs it off, obviously preoccupied with his thesis and upcoming graduation; though it’s a clear sign that perhaps he doesn’t associate to others as well as he would like people to believe or the fact that he has trouble connecting to people based upon the fact he has to lie to them about his true nature. Or, perhaps even, because he can see theirs.

It’s at his graduation party where he is approached by CIA Agent Moira MacTaggart, having somehow heard of Charles’ recent graduation and thesis about the theory of highly evolved and gifted humans (mutants). She begins to question a less than sober Charles about his studies in the field and he reads her mind, discerning her previous encounters with Emma Frost, Sebastian Shaw, Riptide and Azazel. While he doesn’t confess to her at this moment about his personal knowledge of mutations he does agree to visit the CIA offices in order to speak on her behalf about the existence of mutants and the need to stop Shaw before he manages to start World War III.

In the CIA offices it becomes apparent that Moira is looked down upon by her superiors for being a woman (as it’s later stated she’s a good officer but also collateral damage if need be). Charles attempts to persuade them with facts and when that doesn’t work he attempts a practical demonstration of his own ability and is promptly accused of being a spy. Seeing the officers quickly grow out of control Raven jumps to the defense of her brother, showing off her own shape shifting abilities by turning into Stryker and then shifting back to her normal form. The men are stunned and then promptly decide that the mutants need to be detained, at which point another Agent who had been sitting in decides to intervene. (He is not given a name and for the purposes of this history we will address him as Agent Black). Agent Black obviously has a vested interest in mutants and offers to take Charles, Raven and Moira to his compound for holding. While they agree it becomes readily apparent Charles has no intentions of listening to his plan when he communicates to Moira via telepathy and guides them all to the garage. He explains to Agent Black that there’s no time to wait for the bureaucrats and that Shaw needs to be stopped as soon as possible. Raven picks them all up and they leave the CIA building behind.

Moira enlists the help of the Coast Guard with the obtained information that Shaw is settled off the coast of Argentina. It’s on the boat that Charles has his first encounter with another telepath, Emma Frost. Her own ability to block his thoughts physically painful for him and he believes he’ll be of no use and is about to go below deck when he senses the presence of another mutant. Running back to the bow of the ship he indicates toward the large anchor spiraling into the air like a snake ready to strike and is awed at the sense of another mutant, Erik Lehnsherr, in the water. The coast guards smaller ships decimated by Riptide, Charles and the others on the larger boat can only watch in horror (and a bit of awe on Charles’ part) as Erik uses the ships own anchor to begin to tear it apart. Shaw is able to escape Erik’s destruction via an escape submarine that was hidden against the underside of the ship. Erik is unwilling to give up his dire pursuit of the man who tormented him, to the point where he’s allowing himself to be dragged under and probably drowned by attempting to stop the submarines escape. Charles, sensing this, sheds his jacket and leaps from the ship and into the icy ocean water. Wrapping himself around Erik he speaks into his mind, tells him that he understand what killing Shaw means to him but he will die if he doesn’t stop. Surfacing Erik confesses that he thought he was the only one and Charles tells him that he is not alone.

After being unable to stop Shaw the newly formed team reports to Agent Black’s CIA installation and meet the first of Charles’ future students, Hank McCoy. Charles reads his mind and unwittingly outs him as a mutant to the others. Hank is apprehensive but Charles encourages him, letting him know he is among like-minded people and safe to be himself. Hank demonstrates himself as having prehensile feet and a above average jumping ability in addition to his genius.

The first evening of their stay with Agent Black, Charles interrupts Erik who is attempting to leave in the middle of the night to continue his single-minded revenge against Shaw. Charles, having likely read this in his thoughts, interrupts the man as he goes to leave; revealing that he’s read Erik’s mind and believes he knows everything about him, and to that effect he also knows that Shaw has ‘friends’ to help him out and Erik could use some of his own. It’s left ambiguous between them if Erik will stay, as Charles refuses to force him to; but his choice is apparent when he steps in on a meeting between Charles and Agent Black while discussing Hank’s invention cerebro and it’s mutant locating abilities. Erik agrees to stay and help, but under the condition that only he and Charles are allowed to locate their fellow mutants. Charles, having previously been fine with CIA involvement digresses to Erik’s opinion and reminds Agent Black that his machine is of no use without Charles so they don’t have much of a say in the matter.

What follows is trips across the USA where Charles and Erik locate several mutants; Angel Salvadore whom has dragonfly like wings and the ability to spit acid-like fireballs, Armando Munoz whom can adapt to most any attack to survive, Alex Summers with the ability to create plasma who has given up his life to live in prison and finally Sean Cassidy who can create sonic waves of sound with his vocal chords. They also attempt to recruit Wolverine who promptly rejects them.

Hearing intel that Shaw may be going to Russia to speak to one of the influential Generals, Moira, Erik, and Charles follow the trail. It’s revealed after a few bumps in the road (easily solved by Charles’ mutation) that only Frost has arrived in Russia in place of Shaw. Moira advocates that they leave as the CIA has no place going in especially if Shaw isn’t there but Erik disregards her and assaults the compound. Charles, unable to leave Erik behind even when told to, follows Erik while attempting to soothe one of the more traumatized soldiers Erik left in his wake. In the estate they find Frost, using a projection to seduce the general who Charles shortly after puts to sleep. There’s a short confrontation where Erik binds Frost to the metal frame and forces her out of her diamond form, crossing dangerously close to out of control (in Charles’ opinion). Charles is able to read her mind while it’s down and discovers that things are worse than they had first assumed and that Shaw intends to plant missiles in Cuba and start the third World War where mutants would be the only survivors.

They return to the CIA safe-house to find it in rubble, having been attacked by Shaw, Azazel and Riptide in their absence. They’re told that Darwin has been killed and that Angel has left to join Shaw. Charles insists that perhaps they need to stop this as it’s not safe for the others whom he views as children, but they and Erik protest. Erik claims that they will need an army if they have any intention of stopping Shaw and Charles finally concedes with the insistence that they will all need to train and relocate somewhere safer. Charles takes them all to his home the Xavier Estate in Westchester, New York.

Charles takes it upon himself to train all of the mutants, with the exception of Raven who is often seen working out alone in the gym. He has Hank build Alex a vest which better helps his plasma and helps encourage his confidence and assuage his fears about hurting those close to him. They also develop a suit for Sean which enables him to fly using his ability to reach a supersonic pitch. He comforts Hank about the appearance of his mutated feet and encourages him to use the mutation to his advantage instead of hiding. He delves into Erik’s mind, reminding him that there is much more to him than just pain and anger, and that he can use that point between rage and serenity to better control his mutation. It’s a bonding moment for most of the team.

The team prepares to leave for Cuba, only discovering that the night before Hank had used an experimental serum on himself and instead of being healed of his “physical deformity” his mutation is intensified and he’s been turned into a large, blue, cat-like-anthropomorphic looking creature. Raven assures Hank that he should have always been like this, and that he’s perfect, Erik and Alex agree.

Upon arriving in Cuba Charles discovers that the American’s believe themselves to be in conflict with the Russian’s. The Russian ship carrying nuclear weapons is heading toward the dividing line laid down by the Americans just outside of the Cuban shores, unbeknownst to the two battleships that the ship about to enter the conflict zone is being navigated by Azazel who has previously killed the entire crew.

Sean is dropped from the Blackbird to locate Shaw’s submarine, and upon communicating it’s approximate location to Charles; Erik is lowered onto the extended landing gear in order to pull it from the sea. Charles reminds him to find that place inside of himself that is a good balance and allows him to unlock his true potential and Erik is able to draw the submarine from the sea. They begin to guide it toward the beach but are interrupted by Riptide and one of his tornadoes flinging the x-jet off kilter and sending them into a spiral toward a crash. Charles risks his own life to pull Erik back inside of the jet during this and Erik returns the favor by using his own magnetic abilities to pin Charles’ to the floor of the ship with his body and keep him from being flung around in the chaos. Once everything has come to a stop the others buckled in are stuck upside down and Charles assists Moira in removing her belts leaving Raven and Hank to unhook themselves.

Erik leaves to locate Shaw in the downed beached submarine and Raven attempts to assist before Charles commands her to stay. Sean and Alex are deployed to try and keep a handle on Shaw’s minions while Charles helps Erik navigate through the submarine toward Shaw. It’s during this moment that Erik locates the hidden room at the core of the submarine where Charles’ mind can’t reach and Charles’ panics at his inability to to hear what was going on. It’s moments later a crack in the block allows him to communicate to Erik after Erik’s body breaks one of the mirrored walls. This revealed Erik proceeds to yank beams down into the walls and allow Charles’ mind to flood the room-- though he’s still unable to get a hold on Shaw till Erik tricks him and removes his telepath blocking helmet with a cable from behind.

Able to access his mind Charles freezes Shaw in place, straining to hold such a powerful man still with his mind. It’s in these moments he senses Erik’s intentions, knows that he won’t allow Charles to capture Shaw and will kill him. Charles pleads with Erik not to go down that path but Erik adorns Shaw’s helmet to block him out. Erik then reveals the coin he has kept since Shaw killed his mother for his inability to move it and tells him he’s going to move it on the count of three. Charles is able to see all this from in Shaw’s mind but is helpless to stop him. If he releases Shaw he knows the man will kill Erik and so when Erik plunges the coin through Shaw’s head Charles suffers the pain of dying in order to ensure the safety of his friend.

Fearing the mutants the Americans and Russians fire on the beach and Erik stops the missiles, but much to Charles’ dismay turns them back on the ships attempting to destroy the fleet. Charles, unable to convince him verbally, tackles Erik in an attempt to get the helmet off of him so he could stop him from killing the soldiers. The fight is a bit imbalanced, Charles only after Erik’s helmet and Erik’s own fighting instincts causing him to retaliate with elbows and punches in an attempt to deter him. Charles loses the fight and Erik resumes his attempts to destroy the ships while Moira arrives pistol drawn and begins to fire upon Erik. He easily deflects the bullets, however the third ricochets off of a rock on the beach and slams into Charles’ lower spine. The sudden moment of panic causes Erik to lose his hold on the weapons and turn to his fallen friend, pulling the bullet from the back of his suit.

There is no blood on the bullet, and previously being told that their bullet proof, it seems at first as if the suits have done their job. Erik blames Moira but Charles informs him that this is in fact his own fault. Charles confesses he believes that they don’t want the same thing and at this point Erik splits from Charles. Erik requests others to join him, to become part of what will become the Brotherhood of Mutants and former Hellfire Club. Raven seems to be the only one inclined to join him, after a small moment with Charles in which he reads her mind as he had previously promised not to and confesses that he knows she truly wants to leave with Erik. It’s after this emotional moment in which the surrogate family divides that Erik departs with Raven, Azazel, Riptide and Angel.

Charles, after a few instances that he move by Hank, realizes that he can no longer feel his legs.

Personality:
Charles is above all else an optimist, he believes in the best of man and mutants alike.

Abilities, Weaknesses and Power Limitations:
Charles (during this time line) is the most powerful telepath to be discovered.

SAMPLES
Log Sample:
Charles can feel the waking world seeping back into his consciousness, a slow awareness that he's somewhere unfamiliar. The sensation of being smothered, clasped amongst some sort of cloying liquid jars him as his teeth clamp against the breathing tube and suddenly he feels the sensation of being suffocated. He isn't, as it's clearly providing him with oxygen but the obstruction still causes his mind to reel. He can feel his body lowering, the drains nearly silent against his clogged ears at the tube begins to withdraw and he has to force his jaw not to clench or risk breaking any of his teeth. For a moment he struggles to find his footing, remember where he was last-- till he's being moved. Shoved forward he's got nothing to balance on, no movement or ability in his legs-- no longer able to connect the signals from his brain to his lower body, he his the floor hard. Dazed from the realization he only blearily notes the numbers in his skin, far too concerned with the puddle of what reminded him horrifically of embalming liquid puddling around him and the complete lack of a wheelchair.

He waits in the silence, begs to a silent part of his mind for this to be some sort of morphine induced dream at the hospital but finds no such reprieve. It's then he realizes no one is here to help him, and he must help himself. Pushing up onto his hands he tries to harden his resolve, to ignore the tremors in his breath as he begins to drag his legs across the floor. He needs to find a chair at the least, needs to find out where he is-- needs to find out what happened.

Comms Sample:

[ Having situated himself at a desk the screen flickers and crackles as Charles attempts to adjust the camera to the angle he assumes will best capture his upper torso. He looks worn and a bit ill, lips bitten bright red and rings around his eyes nearly matching in color. However, when he speaks he retains that posh accent and formal nature he was known for. ]

I've seen a few others on here lately, so I've taken the assumption that this communicator is able to broadcast to others, at least locally. [ He clears his throat, nervously pushing a hand through his hair and turning his attention back to the screen. ] I hate to be a bother but I am in need of some assistance. I'm curious if there is anyone who might be able to assist me in finding a wheelchair; it seems mine hasn't quite made the trip.

[ A beat, ] Thank you. [ And with a hesitant pause Charles cuts the feed. ]
